About Marko "Byg Dade" Howard
Marko Howard, also known as Byg Dade (pronounced Big Daddy), has been a prominent figure in the DME world for over 50 years. His extensive clinical experience, coupled with his unique business acumen, provides a perspective that is both rare and invaluable in the DME industry, instilling confidence in the expertise he offers.
For the first half of his career, he was a healthcare professional treating injuries of elite athletes and orthopedic patients. Marko worked for the San Diego Chargers Football Club for 13 years as an athletic trainer. (ATC). He left the Chargers to transition into working in orthopedics at OASIS Sports Medical Group. Marko was one of the first athletic trainers to exit the traditional ATC setting and enter a medical practice as a physician extender. He was the director of OASIS for 10 years, serving as a surgical first assistant to the orthopedists. Other roles included directing the physical therapy clinic, coordinating the orthopedic fellowship program, running the business, and developing/administering one of the first in-house DME programs ever implemented. While in the clinical setting, Marko became a certified orthopedic technologist (OTC) and certified orthopedic physician’s assistant (OPA-C).
During his clinical years at the Chargers and at OASIS, he consulted with Don Joy bracing company and BREG, developing various DME products. During his tenure working in the sportsmedicine/orthopedic world, Marko published numerous peer-reviewed articles (six in total) related to orthopedics, athletic training, and rehabilitation.
In 1998, Marko left the clinical setting for the business world, where he worked at BREG. He served in numerous roles there, including Senior Product Manager, Director of New Product Development, Director of Business Solutions, Director of Product Management, and Director of Marketing for Business Solutions. During his tenure at BREG, Marko was responsible for developing numerous products, the first ever in-house DME program (business solution) called OrthoSelect, and Vision, an inventory management system that helped manage accounts in-house DME programs.
After nearly 14 years at BREG, Marko left and became the Vice President of Orthopedics for United Ortho. In addition to running the orthopedic product business, he developed numerous products that successfully went to market. His efforts helped the company grow in revenue and profit for three straight years.
Since his experience at United Ortho, Marko has served as the Director of Business Development & Training at BSN medical/Essity, Corporate Business Development Director at I.H.S., Vice President of Sales at VQ Orthocare, and the COO at Incrediwear.
Throughout his distinguished career, Marko has amassed numerous inventions and patents for DME products, including:

Marko also obtained a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Walden University in 2011. He is talented at building high-functioning teams that exceed expectations.
